Im FabLab Chemnitz hat sich 2018 eine kleine Gruppe gebildet, die sich auf die Fahne geschrieben hat, sich mit dem Thema Kunstoffrecycling auseinander zu setzen. Zusammen arbeitet das "Plastefüchse"-Team daran Maschinen zu bauen und zu dokumentieren, mit denen gesammelte und gereinigte Plastikabfälle zerkleinert und neu verwertet werden sollen. Als Grundlage dient uns dabei das Open Hardware Projekt "Precious Plastic" als Startschuss, welches mittlerweile zu einer weltweiten Bewegung geworden ist. "Precious Plastic" bedeutet so viel wie "kostbarer Kunststoff" und steht für eine aktive und offene Community, die sich mit dem Plastikrecycling tiefgreifend auseinandersetzt und die dazu notwendigen Wissensgrundlagen und technischen Bauanleitungen zur Verfügung stellt und kontinuierlich verbessert.

Machine building and plastic recycling workshop based at the International School of Kenya's Design and Art Centre. We fabricate and assemble locally made plastic recycling machines using the precious plastic blueprints and design and manufacture molds that can be used with the machines. a social enterprise creating ocean plastic solutions and education

We are an European family living in Phuket since August 2018. A few months ago, we decided to start collecting the colorful trash plastic caps from beaches, roads, streets and from some friends. After some research and study about plastics and how to recycle and reuse it, we bought a shredder and an injection machine. And then, with the support of a designer and a company that produces moulds, we came out with a beautiful babyseaturtle that allows to hold your phone, cards, glasses or other objects.

We are four students from Germany who are passionate about recycling and 3D printing. At QiTech Industries, we develop and build machines to process plastic into 3D printing filament.

UP_designlab was born in 2020 with an idea, recycle plastic bags, which are discarded by the commercial sector and not only. We collect plastic bags from business waste; we classify them by type of plastic (HDPE and LDPE) and colors. Once the separation is done, we begin our process of designing our “plastic fabrics”, a collage cluster, we play with the different colors, textures, and types of plastics; once the design is defined, we take it to a compression machine that fuse the plastic through heat. From there, we start a handmade work which result is an unique product made with recycled material. 

Hello Precious Plastic people! We are Njombe Beyond , a project lead by the SHIPO SMART Centre Tanzania . We are creating a local network of small scale plastic recyclers in the southern highlands of Tanzania. All our designs can be produced with low cost and simple technologies, such as those available in Njombe. Current status of Njombe Beyond network: - Two local plastic shredders - A machine building workshop - A mould producing artisan - A recycling workshop with the injection and the compresion machines. - A recycling workshop with an industrial extrusion machine And an intenational network of product & mould designers. Greenwood Design is a sustainable design studio run by Tom and our side project is Re:Do design and we have a plastic shedder / sheet press workspace based in the East Midlands, U.K. We mostly use plastic from the physical media industry and saved from landfill , this include DVD, game & cd cases as well as the Discs themselves. The advantage of using these is they are quite clean to start with and we remove the clear covers before granulation . We have been designing and making products from plastic ,wood and other sustainably sourced materials since 2011 and share the space with other makers who use recycled glass and have access to laser cutters and CNC machines.
