Injection Unit

This package includes the Injection barrel with tabs,

the plunger, hopper and custom nozzle.

The nozzle hack mitigates the 'dead space' between the end of the plunger and your mold, thus saving a bit more plastic (article in forums: https://davehakkens.nl/community/forums/topic/injectionextrusion-nozzle-refinement/)

If you'd like to add or remove items in the package just let me know what you want.

Shipping has not been included in the cost, so let me know where you are and we can work it out.

*Dimensions vary slightly (as shown in last image) due to the differing standards in South Africa, but all other measurements remain the same as blueprints.

That's right, the shipping cost for two would be the same as for one? Tim s

Texas Guy will participate. Do Euro guys have tighter tolerance I.D. stainless barrel than we can get in States ? I can only source 1 inch + .050 - 1.050, I think too much slack space.

The closest and tightest tolerance I could find here in SA was SCH80 plumbing pipe. I needed to machine the plunger but perhaps you can figure something similar in the states?

The plunger ? Do you mean the screw ? I am seeking an extruder with a rotary screw. Yes, sch. 80 pipe has nominal I.D. of .957, so it can be reamed out with a reamer to 1.020 for a nice fit of a 1.000 power pole drill bit like Irwin manufactures (they come from Brazil).

But even sch. 80 pipe with welded seam is likely not strong enough for a true extruder screw, as mentioned the pipe has a welded seam, and is only .179 wall, I fear it could bust open. Have you seen how thick the extruder cases are for real million dollar extruders ?

I mean the plunger.. I've only been able to build the Injector with local - low cost materials thus far, so i can't really answer questions regarding the PP Extruder. If you're looking for some help maybe post a topic in the forums - I'm sure there are other Americans looking for similar solutions.
