Plastics extrusion is a process in which shredded plastic is melted and formed into a continuous profile of plastic.This process starts by feeding shredded plastic flakes into the hopper where the plastic is collected by the screw to feed through the barrel of the extruder. The material is gradually melted by the mechanical energy generated by the turning screw and by heaters arranged along the barrel. The molten polymer is then forced through a die, which shapes the polymer into a shape that hardens during cooling.
Moulds and other post production processes can be attached to make various products like beams, filament, granules, poles and pipes.The temperature is managed with a special temperature controller that can be set for each type of plastic profile. eg. PET, HD and LDPE, PP and PLA. The screw is driven by a single phase motor with a gearbox reduction ratio of 15:1 for optimal shearing of the plastic.
